Daniel wasn’t the first to cross that line, and this action was done to both sides. But such was the magnitude of Daniel’s integrity in the dominion, that his crossing was a surprise, and gave many pause to reconsider themselves. Line crossings stopped.
The line was clear, sides were taken, and vehemence of each side yelling at each other, flared tempers. Points of view turned to accusation, which turned to insult, and both sides advanced on the line, none backed down.
Inevitability, the first shove happened. Attacks from both sides were rapid and strong. Within seconds the riot was on, and the regulation’s side was deeply penetrated with ferocious fighting.
Daniel could hold his own with a single opponent, but at any given moment, two or even three, were upon him. He became worried when he realized his overall movement was in retreat.
Pro-regulators were being pushed back, largely because they were outnumbered. But not overly so, and because their strength was equal, the balance could be tipped at any time. However, as the struggle ensued, the pro-councils never gave up their advantage.
The Supreme Leader of the Inner Circle, bearing ability of omnipresence, decided his moment had come.
The sky filled with clouds so dark that light faded. A loud rumbling, rolling thunder was heard, followed by lightning, then rain was upon them. It was sudden, hard, and driving in its relentless deluge. The storm presented a huge cyclone with tremendous power, and rain was followed by thick hail. Finally, tornadoes were seen everywhere. Still those backing the Council held advantage, continually wrestling their opponents down, pushing them further and further back.
The deafening sound of an abrupt and tremendous cracking noise was heard. It ripped and tore the land in two as it raged along its path, shaking the entire field. Immediately, just beyond them, the surface was seen to open and a great chasm appeared, exhibiting sharp cliffs with steep sides. All approached the nearest precipice.
The driving thrust of battle forced those at the rear of the throng, those desiring change, closer to the cliff. Heat emanated from the crevasse, fingers of flame reached up to grip them, fiery embers streaked off fireballs that catapulted in every direction, and lightning bolts streaked into as well as out of it.
The first to fall in was that harbinger of pride in the name of change. As The One fell, his followers joined him, trickling at first, then flowing down into the chasm until they were all swallowed.
The storm receded, the surface closed over them, and they were trapped. . .
